Bemis Associates Pledges 1% of all Seam Tape sales to Environmental Causes
Bemis Associates, bonding innovation and design partner to the world’s leading technical, performance, luxury, and lifestyle brands, joined 1% for the Planet, pledging to donate 1% of annual sales from its Seam Tape portfolio of products to support nonprofit organizations focused on the environment.
“Bemis is excited to further accelerate our commitment to the planet through this membership. The Bemis Outdoor Fund works with 1% for the Planet approved organizations that educate on climate change, protect the outdoors, provide equitable access to nature, and that advocate for sound climate policy.” says Alyssa Caddle, Global Director of Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility at Bemis.
Bemis currently partners with several environmental non-profits in the 1% for the Planet network, including Protect Our Winters (POW), the Environmental League of Massachusetts, and the Trustees of Reservations. In addition to direct donations, Bemis employees also participate in community service activities, and senior leadership engages in lawmaker education promoting business support of environmental action. Bemis is also accepting grant applications from new potential partners for the fall giving cycle of The Bemis Outdoor Fund.
“Currently, only 3% of total philanthropy goes to the environment and, only 5% of that comes from businesses. The planet needs bigger support than this, and our growing network of business members is doing its valuable part to increase giving and support on-the-ground outcomes. By contributing 1% of their annual sales, 1% for the Planet members have raised over $280 million to support approved environmental nonprofits around the globe. Nonprofits are approved based on referrals, track record, and environmental focus with thousands worldwide currently approved.
